Reviews Agree – Patients Love Dr. Whitney Bowe. So do we!
Dr. Whitney Bowe is much more than just a dermatologist. She’s a world-renowned clinical researcher with publications in top medical journals. She’s an industry leader who actively helps other health organizations improve their outcomes. And she’s a devoted physician whose caring touch has won rave reviews from thousands of patients.
Dr. Bowe first made her name by graduating from Yale University with highest honors. Next, she was off to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she impressed her instructors by graduating at the top of her class. She did her residency at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, which was the place she discovered her passion for original clinical research.
She burst onto the research scene in 2005, with a landmark study on acne treatment. While working in a clinic, she’d noticed that patients who received antibiotics for acne tended to lose resistance to bacterial infections in their upper respiratory tracts. She followed up on her instincts, and confirmed the hypothesis – and the resulting paper, “Antibiotic treatment of acne may be associated with upper respiratory tract infections,” appeared in the Archives of Dermatology in September 2005. It’s been cited widely by other researchers ever since – and it’s also made its impact felt throughout the dermatological community. Thanks to Dr. Bowe, doctors who prescribe treatment for acne now take the risk of upper respiratory infection much more seriously.
But that paper was only the beginning of Dr. Bowe’s research career. In 2007, she began to notice that her patients who suffered from acne also tended to show signs of body dysmorphic disorder. The link seemed too strong to ignore, so she started gathering more data and analyzing it in more detail. Sure enough, her hunch was confirmed again: patients who suffered from acne vulgaris really were more susceptible to body dysmorphic disorder. The paper in which Dr. Bowe stated her case, “Body dysmorphic disorder symptoms among patients with acne vulgaris,” appeared in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology in August 2007 – and it’s also been influential in a major way. Due to Dr. Bowe’s findings, dermatologists are more alert than ever to the possibility of body dysmorphic disorder symptoms in their patients.
Even then, Dr. Bowe was just getting started. In 2010, she turned her attention to the ongoing controversy over the linkages between diet and acne. Do certain foods increase acne – or is this just a longstanding myth? Dr. Bowe set out to find the truth for herself. She critically reviewed studies from the past several years, and found strong evidence that high glycemic diets do, in fact, worsen its symptoms. Her paper on the topic, titled simply, “Diet and Acne,” appeared in the July 2010 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. From that point on, dermatologists and researchers could no longer afford to ignore the association between diet and acne – and thanks to Dr. Bowe, many have changed the diet counsel they offer their patients.
More recently, Dr. Bowe astonished the dermatological community by developing a patented technological therapy for acne. Using a naturally derived agent that she applies to patients’ skin, she’s been able to relieve or reduce the suffering of many cases of acne that other doctors considered to be beyond help. For that reason alone, she’s won the support both of her medical peers, and of hundreds of patients around the world.
In short, Dr. Bowe’s research has significantly influenced the field of dermatology over the past ten years – and it’s also influenced the ways in which dermatologists advise and interact with their patients. That’s why medical industry leaders call on her year after year to speak at international conferences, where she provides expert guidance on patient care. At each appearance, doctors flock to her presentations, where she presents her latest cutting-edge research findings – including updates on the acne treatment system she’s developed.
With a profile so high, it’s no surprise that the media often call on Dr. Bowe when they need an expert opinion on dermatology. Dr. Bowe puts in frequent appearances on shows like Good Morning America and The Rachael Ray Show, as well as in health and fashion magazines like Allure and InStyle.
She also serves as a consultant for major companies like Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble. She’s been named a Beckman Scholar, a Westinghouse Scholar, and a 21st Century Gamble scholar – and the prestigious Super Doctors’ list recognizes her as being among the top 2.5 percent of New York physicians.
All this is impressive enough – but none of it would mean much if Dr. Bowe wasn’t also known for her human touch. Right from the beginning of her practice, her patients have spoken highly of her kindness, her understanding, and her willingness to help her patients look exactly how they want to look:
“To say I love dr. Bowe is an understatement. She is beautiful, personable, professional, detail oriented, effective, intelligent, and trustworthy.”
“She actually looks at your face, and not just for a glance. She is incredibly sweet.”
Her patients also praise her extensive knowledge of the field – not just in the abstract technical sense, but also in terms of the practical know-how needed to make sure every procedure gets performed exactly how it ought to be. When a trustworthy expert is hard to find, they say, Dr. Bowe leaves no doubt about her ability to exceed every patient’s expectations:
“She put me at ease from the moment we started talking. She listened closely and addressed every point I brought up in a kind, empathetic, and very knowledgeable way.”
“Dr. Bowe is one of those practitioners you meet once in a lifetime who is genuinely focused on improving patients well-being.”
And in terms of results – well, they speak for themselves, as you can see on her website’s “Before & After” pages. But Dr. Bowe’s patients are also happy to put the truth in words:
“I had an appointment with Dr. Bowe and look 10 years younger!”
“I have been going to her monthly since October 2012, and my skin has never looked better!”
